Description
The tour departs from Nagoya, gathering in front of Nagoya Station, and promptly begins a wonderful journey. The first stop is Gujo Hachiman, with approximately 60 minutes of free time. This ancient city in central Gifu is famous for its clear waters and Edo-style streetscapes, and is known as the "Town of Water." Along the streets, you can see wooden townhouses, stone-paved paths, and old canals that have been preserved since the Edo period. Among them, "Sogi Water" is a representative of Japan's 100 famous waters. Ascend to Gujo Hachiman Castle on the hilltop, where the white snow covers the castle in winter, and the castle and mountains reflect each other, resembling a famous castle in the snow. This area also preserves the traditional "Gujo Dance" with more than 400 years of history and exquisite food model workshops, allowing tourists to experience unique cultural charm while enjoying the scenery. Afterward, head to Hida Takayama, with approximately 120 minutes of free time. The center of Takayama City preserves the complete form of the Edo period castle town and merchant town, and is known as "Little Kyoto of Hida." You can stroll through "Sanmachi Street," admire the architectural style of the Meiji and Taisho periods, and taste local delicacies such as Hida beef and Takayama ramen. Finally, head to Shirakawa-go Ogimachi Village, with approximately 100 minutes of free time. This World Heritage Site's gassho-style village is surrounded by mountains and crisscrossed by rivers and valleys, with rice fields and streams intertwined, and is known as the "Kingdom of Forests and Streams." The 152 traditional houses have steep thatched roofs to cope with the pressure of heavy snow, and are also suitable for silkworm cultivation. Snow water from Mt. Haku flows into the Obira River, making the river milky white, adding a unique winter scenery to the village, as if being in a fairy tale world. After the tour, take the bus back to Nagoya Station, ending a fulfilling and unforgettable day.
